Requirements and Exceptions
Each program page will elaborate the entrance requirements for the program in question. CASI programs are offered either as personal interest education or as non-vocational professional development, depending on the program. They are not designed or offered as vocational programs. The programs are not designed to be vocational.
All programs require the student to be at least 18 years of age, to have completed high school or equivalent, and to have sufficient English-language proficiency to complete written coursework.
As mentioned, some programs are intended to be for professional development, and as such, require that the student have professional experience, be it paid or volunteer, in an animal-related or behavior-related field, for which they are seeking to upgrade and expand their professional skills and knowledge. Professional membership or certification in a professional association or certifying body also satisfies the entrance requirement. Having completed a preparatory program of study in an animal-related or behavior-related field also satisfies the entrance requirement. This stipulation does not require you have a specific number of hours or have achieved an advanced level of practice, just that you have professional experience or have taken a vocational program of study in it already or have a certification or professional membership in a professional association or certifying body. Even minimal participation in an animal-related or behavior-related job satisfies the entrance requirement be that paid or not.
