Practicum & Supervision Programs

The Companion Animal Sciences Institute is proud to offer credit for hands on skill development. Practicums and Supervision module programs are available for graduates of select diploma programs of study. The diploma program page will identify whether practicum or supervision modules programs are available for those programs.

Practicum and supervision modules are not required for graduation and the awarding of a diploma, but may be completed by graduates of these programs in order to receive academic credit for it and helm move toward greater competency.

The practicum and supervision module programs will allow the graduate to take what they have learned and apply it to furthering their career in animal training and behavior consulting. They are designed in order to gradually expose the trainer or consultant to providing professional services.

The practicum allows the trainer or consultant to be exposed to simple hands on professional services.

The supervision program allows the trainer or consultant to begin working under a qualified professional on more complex professional services to ensure that they develop their professional skills and judgment adequately.

A graduate that wishes to continue their professional development beyond their awarded diploma and completes the practicum and/or supervision module programs will have their work credited appropriately. They will be awarded a new diploma and transcript to highlight their hands on work.

Graduates with the practicum program are eligable for
IIACAB listing as an "Endorsed Professional."
