Program Description

The Diploma of Companion Animal Behavior is an in-depth exploration of the training and behavior management of parrots, cats and dogs. The student will become familiar with principles of learning and behavior, the biology of behavior, how to do a functional assessment of behavior problems, develop a behavior change program for addressing problem behavior as well as an introduction to the free range behavior of parrots, cats and dogs. The advanced program also addresses critical reasoning and research methods, allowing the graduate to perform their own research projects.

Students can expect to do a lot of studying and writing in this program, exploring the various topics in depth. The program is geared toward a behavior analysis approach.

This program requires approximately 392 work-hours.

The graduate would be awarded a Diploma of Companion Animal Behavior and allowed the letters Dip.CAB. after their name. Graduation from this program of study represents a major achievement and credential.
