Program Description
The Diploma of Advanced Canine Behavioral Sciences is an in-depth examination of the principles of learning, critical thinking & scientific reasoning, domestic dog behavior, dog training, functional assessment of behavior problems, behavior change programming, behavior consulting skills and research methods. This is our most advanced and challenging program. This program provides the solid foundation of knowledge necessary to work at a professional level with dogs and their guardians and to carry out scientific research in that field as well as write scholarly papers for journals.
This program of study would be of interest to anyone wanting to make dog behavior consulting or dog training a serious career.
There are both hands-on, practical career development, and academic assignments in this program. A major benefit of taking the program is continuous access to industry leading professionals for help in your academic development as well as professional career development.
This program outlines some ethological and biological issues surrounding dog behavior but generally takes a behavioral approach to training and behavior consulting.
Students can expect to do a lot of studying and writing in this program, exploring the various topics in depth.
This program allows the student specialize their studies with an elective including the opportunity to undertake an independent study course on a topic of their choice.
This program is distinguished from the Diploma of Dog Training and Behavior Consulting by its intensive exploration of biology of behavior, critical reasoning, analysis and research methods, preparing the student more fully for analyzing arguments, research and carying out research projects.
This program requires approximately 532 work-hours.
The graduate would be awarded a Diploma of Advanced Canine Behavioral Sciences and allowed the letters Dip.ACBS. after their name. Graduation from this advanced program of study represents a major achievement and credential.Course Objectives

Tuition
Tuition is in Canadian funds (Currency Converter), + 4% fee for for online payments. Textbooks not included in tuition. They may be purchased through http://www.dogwise.com, http://www.amazon.com, http://www.abebooks.com or http://www.half.com in most cases. Also check the Student Library. Canadian Residents 5% GST. Option #1. $2600 Canadian (plus 4% service charge) = $2704.
Option #2. Payment plan. $1404 & 6 monthly payments of $260, requested on the first of each month after enrollment and due within 7 days from then.
Schedule
The program begins as soon as your enrollment is complete and you receive your enrollment package. Although we allow 4 years for this course, you are free to complete the course sooner if you can, and we do allow extensions if need be. Note that you will see time limits for each individual course on the course pages, but when you are enrolled in a diploma program there are no intermediate deadlines. Nothing is due before the program time-frame listed here.
