Internship Requirements:

Puppy kindergarten : Required reading Dog Aggression Workbook by James O'Heare - book report. Sitting in on 8 weeks of puppy kindergarten.

Assisting puppy kindergarten: Required reading It's Not the Dogs; It's the People by Nicole Wilde - book report. Working toward assisting instructor for 8 weeks of puppy kindergarten.

Co-teaching puppy kindergarten: required reading Canine Separation Anxiety Workbook by James O'Heare - book report.   Working toward co-teaching with instructor 8 weeks of puppy kindergarten.

Basic obedience: Required reading Coaching People to Teach Their Dogs by Terry Ryan - book report.  Sitting in on 8 weeks of basic obedience.

Assisting basic obedience: Required reading Control Unleashed by Leslie McDevitt - book report. Working toward assisting instructor for 8 weeks of basic obedience.

Co-teaching basic obedience: Required reading For the Love of a Dog Patricia McConnell- book report. Working toward Co-teaching with instructor for 8 weeks.

Attendance of a minimum of four Friday night Puzzle parties/shaping session - shaping at least one complex behavior each night attended. (all shaping must not be done in that night). Required reading Kay Laurence book 1 and 2. 

Completion of CAP1 & CAP2 testing.

Aggression consults auditing: intern is required to sit in on a minimum of ten aggression consults with CCinc staff. One paper describing each consult will be submitted when the sessions are complete. Paper will include plans on how the intern will handle aggressive dogs in puppy kindergarten and basic obedience.

A non-compete agreement will be required with the internship provider. 20 Miles from Courteous Canine Inc. for 2 years from graduation. The internship provider can provide details.

Fee: $1500 USD.




Notice

The course modules for this program of study are operated completely through CASI. The Internship Module is operated completely independently of CASI and involves a relationship between the intern and the professional train selected. Tuition is handled independently through each separate relationship.
