Course Description:
This in-depth course will discuss
the importance of ethical wildcrafting and its impact on the environment. It
also explains numerous methods for drying flowers, leaves, and roots as well as
examining some of the most common preparations used in the field of animal
herbalism. The course also provides how-to instructions on making herbal
preparations in your own home. This course is evaluated by way of written and
hands-on assignments.
Students should emerge from
this course with the ability to analyze and discuss the following topic areas:
- Ethical wildcrafting
- The best times to harvest flowers, leaves, and roots of herbs
- How to make extracts, tinctures, glycerites, infusions, decoctions, poultices, fomentations, salves, and ointments
- Which preparations are more appropriate for animals
- Advantages and disadvantages to different types of preparations
- Identifying common herbs
