Course Description:

This course takes a more in-depth look at macro- and micro-nutrients. It discusses the roles of certain vitamins, the differences in some minerals, and the various types of cholesterol. It also explores the different types of amino acids and how energy is produced via the TCA cycle.

Students should emerge from this course with able to analyze and discuss the following topic areas:

  • Vitamins
  • Minerals
  • Carbohydrates
  • Protein
  • Fats
  • TCA cycle
  • Water
  • Energy systems of the body
