Course Description

TThis course discusses the importance of fatty acids to the health of the skin and supplementation of fatty acids. It also explores the differences between allergies and sensitivities as well as what can be done about food allergies. Although this course addresses issues of health it does not instruct in the diagnosis or treatment of medical disorders or diseases.

Students should emerge from this course with an understanding of:

  • Essential fatty acids
  • EFA deficiencies
  • Sources of Omega 6 and Omega 3 fatty acids
  • Differences between food sensitivities and allergies
  • Food ingredients and reactions
  • Elimination diets and their implementation

  • Canine and Feline Nutrition A Resource for Companion Animal Professionals 2nd Edition by Case, Carey, Hirakawa, and Daristotle (This text is available through CASI for $30 USD, which covers only the cost for shipping from publisher and shipping to you)
