Course Title: Agility Training - 223

Course Description:
Agility Training 223 is a 4 month in-depth and advanced exploration of the behaviors required to run competition level agility. The student will learn about the play training pyramid and how to make use of the foundation it creates to give their dog the best agility behavior education that they can. This course emphasizes motivation and fun. This course is hands on and requires that you have a dog that is physically and behaviorally fit and prepared to participate safely in sports training.
A minimum of once weekly access to a full set of agility equipment is necessary to complete this course.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completing this course, the student will be able to:
- Define the ideal dog performance of each agility obstacle
- Define how to create training approximations for each agility obstacle
- Define what a handling system is
- Define how to motivate most dogs to want to learn the agility obstacles
- Define how and when to use a clicker to mark desired behavior
- Define how to teach a dog to sequence agility obstacles
- Define how to create consistent obstacle performance
- Define how to create ideal stimulus control for fluent sequence performance

Course Evaluation:
This course will be evaluated by short essay assignments that will reflect and demonstrate competency in analyzing and discussing the course topics. The final grade will be the mean average of the assignment grades.
