Course Description

This course provides a solid foundational knowledge of the relationship between the nervous system and behavior. Basic mammalian neuropsychology is covered and this is tied to the biology and behavior of the domestic dog with the dog specific book Canine Neuropsychology. The student will complete an open book objective exam upon completion of the textbook. Students should emerge from this course with a foundational understanding of: animals in research, nerve cells and nerve impulses, synapses and hormones, anatomy of the nervous system, developmental plasticity of the brain, movement, regulation of internal body states, biology of learning and memory, basic chemistry.
